A little of my story

I came to Washington in 2009 with a secondhand camera, a degree in fine art, and absolutely no plan. My first paid session was a family of four on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial for one hundred and fifty dollars, and I was so nervous I forgot to change my shutter speed for the first ten minutes.

Sixteen years later I have photographed more than nine hundred families across the District, Northern Virginia and Maryland — first-time parents holding a four-day-old, couples who met on the Metro, grandparents flown in from three time zones away, and a great many toddlers who had very strong opinions about standing still.

What every collection includes

Regardless of which collection you choose, the foundation is identical: a pre-session consultation, a personal wardrobe and colour guide, on-location direction throughout, professional colour grading on every delivered image, and a private high-resolution gallery ready to download within three to five business days.

Heirloom products

Digital files are wonderful, but they live on hard drives. The studio partners with a fine-art lab in Virginia to produce linen-bound albums, museum-mounted framed prints, and folio boxes on archival cotton rag paper. Framed prints begin at $320; twelve-by-twelve albums begin at $650.

Choosing where to photograph

The location shapes everything — the colour palette of your images, what you should wear, what time we begin, and how the evening feels. During your consultation we will narrow it down together based on the season, your family’s ages and how far you are willing to travel.

If you are visiting Washington and only have one evening, the honest answer is usually the Tidal Basin at sunrise in spring, or the National Mall at blue hour in autumn. Both are unmistakably this city, and both photograph beautifully.

Information we collect

When you submit an enquiry through this website, we collect the name, email address, telephone number, session preferences and message you provide. We collect this solely in order to respond to your enquiry and, should you book, to deliver your session.

How we use your information

Your information is used to reply to enquiries, prepare session agreements, deliver galleries, and — only if you explicitly opt in — to send occasional studio news. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone, ever.

Booking and retainer

A session is reserved only once a signed agreement and a non-refundable retainer of thirty percent of the collection price have been received. The remaining balance is due on or before the day of the session.

Rescheduling and cancellation

Your retainer may be transferred once to any available date within twelve months of the original booking. Cancellations made more than fourteen days before the session forfeit the retainer only. Cancellations inside fourteen days are liable for fifty percent of the collection price.
